I started in the real estate business in Door County in 1994 after an exciting career in politics. Upon completion of college, I worked for the United States Senate in Washington, D.C. I had the privilege of seeing how our government works first hand. After working in the fast lane, I realized I couldn't or didn't want to do it forever.
What next?.....I have had the pleasure of being 5th generation from Door County and never really had the chance to enjoy this beautiful place for very long and enjoy it as a result of my father being in the military for my whole childhood. My family moved 26 times while I was growing up and we lived in some great places to include Hawaii, Alaska, Germany, California, Rhode Island and Virginia -- just to name a few.
In 1992 I moved back to Door County full-time and I met my husband to be, Jim Smith who practices law in Door County. Jim's primary focus has always been land use and real estate law and I enjoyed hearing some of the stories about his career. He and I were talking about real estate business one day and I dove right in -- got my sales and broker's license at the same time and never looked back. He's really rubbed off on me. In my spare time, when not selling real estate or being a wife and Mom, I studied the law for four fun-filled years! I received by Juris Doctor (J.D.) in March 2014 from Concord Law School.
I founded a real estate company in 1994. I love this business and see myself doing this for the rest of my life. There is nothing better than assisting families as they make real estate choices whether it be buying or selling.
In 2010, I merged with Coldwell Banker The Real Estate Group. I now have the benefits of doing nothing but selling real estate. There is nothing better than being part of something big and really being able to utilize the services and tools of a large company that benefits our buyers and sellers right here in Door County.
When I'm not busy selling real estate, I enjoy being a wife and a mother. In late 2008, Jim and I adopted two beautiful girls from Ukraine. Ana (now 19) and Daria (now 17) have adjusted living in America just beautifully and we couldn't be luckier parents. In my few moments of spare time, I also enjoy gardening, spending time with our horses, our daughters and visiting our cottage on Clark Lake.
